We often forget about the importance of a proper skin care routine that cleanses, corrects, hydrates and protects our skin from the elements. A consistent daily skincare routine, that is well nourished, can ensure your skin remains healthier for longer. Coco Chanel once said that “nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty” – words to live by!
Step 1 – Cleanse
Cleansing is an important part of any skin care routine because it removes make-up, dead skin cells, dirt, oils and any other pollutants hiding in your skin. As I tend to have quite dry/ sensitive skin I like to use a gentle cleanser that leaves my skin feeling smoother, clearer and brighter. The Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser is an indulgent rich cream that deeply cleanses, soothes and purifies the skin. I’ve used this, on and off, since I was 17 and although I’ve tried a few different cleanses since then, I always come back to this. It’s defintly one of my all time favourites!
Step 2 – Exfoliate
Proper exfoliation will uncover fresher and healthier looking skin by removing any dead skin cells that are clogging the pores. This also allows any moisturising products to penetrate more deeply into the skin. I use the pure cotton muslin cloth, alongside the Liz Earle cleanser, everyday but I also like to follow this up with the Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator, twice a week. This exfoliator is perfect if your skin looks dull, tired or flaky because it contains fine jojoba beads that gentle buffs away any impurities left on the skin.
Step 3 – Tone
I’ve actually only recently added a toner to my skincare regimen but I think its a great step to ensure any traces of dirt aren’t left behind after washing. The first time I tried this product I was amazed by the amount of makeup left on my skin, even after properly cleansing. I wouldn’t say this is an essential step, to your skincare routine, but if you’re someone with oily/ acne-proned skin or if your someone who wants extra cleansing, after removing makeup, than this will definitely help.
Step 4 – Moisturise
It is well known that a good quality moisturiser can prevent and treat dry skin. However, it can also improve skin tone and texture, mask impurities and protect the skin by creating a temporary barrier. I like to use a subtle, well balanced moisturiser, every day and night, after I cleanse my skin. If my skin needs an extra boost I’ll use the Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate for Night; its packed with different oils to soften, nourish and enrich the skin leaving it looking beautifully radiant.
I like to believe that products made by the same company are designed to work together. Any products from the same line would be tested together (hopefully!) to ensure they give the best results, without over treating your skin. Plus I always like the feeling of having all one brand lined up on the bathroom shelf! However, it can also be good to tailor your skin care regimen by hand selecting the ‘star products’ from different brands. Whatever you use it doesn’t matter, as long as it works for you!
