If you think florals are just for Spring, then think again! Bold, beautiful, blossom patterns are perfect in the spring and summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them once the temperature drops. Thankfully, the popular print has taken on new shapes and colours that are seasonally appropriate for Autumn and Winter.
I would recommend looking for floral prints in darker, muted, autumnal hues. Oxblood, green, grey, navy, camel and dusky rose are just a few that lend themselves well to the season.
Another thing to consider is the fabric and cut of the piece you’re styling. Opting for a floral pattern in rich satin, soft velvet or plush cashmere is both warm and stylish! Long sleeves, a high neckline and a low hemline are also both chic and functional (no one will know you’re secretly wearing your thermals underneath)!
If you’d rather turn your favourite sundresses into year-round looks then layering is key! Just throw on a leather jacket, a roll neck jumper and some comfy heeled boots. If you would like to know more about how I layer clothing in the colder months, visit my blog on winter layering.
One of my favourite floral pieces this season has got to be this moody midi dress from Zara. It’s edgy yet feminine and incredibly versatile! The round neck line and cinched waist also makes this piece very flattering. I’ve paired it with some sleek leather Mocha coloured ankle boots and a grey croc shoulder bag from Debenhams.
