FINDING THE PERFECT FRAGRANCE

4th October 2017 BEAUTY

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to the launch event of Ted Baker’s new fragrance collection ‘Ted’s Sweet Treats’. It’s a uniquely delicious collection designed for girls who like their scents with plenty of personality. My favourtie fragrance is Mia, she oozes ladylike glamour with her soft, floral fragrance of rose blooms and freesias!

The scent you choose to wear often defines your character and captures the essence of who you really are. This really inspired me to write a blog post on finding the perfect fragrance to match your personality!

As you might know, fragrances belong in families based on their composition. The first challenge is understanding what notes you’re most attracted to and exploring from there. One thing I recently discovered is that a fragrance is made of notes; the top note is the first hit of scent and is usually the most appealing and enticing. The heart notes make up the main body, while the base notes add depth to the fragrance. Base notes can take a while to fully release after application so wait 30 minutes to an hour before making any decisions on your new fragrance. I’d suggest applying a tester, then go shopping in your favourite clothes store before returning to purchase. Allowing time for all of the notes to release!

Floral

Floral fragrances are probably to most popular perfume family. They can contain single flower aromas or a floral bouquet scent which is a combination of several flowers in one fragrance. Popular ingredients of flower based perfumes are Roses, Orange Blossoms, Gardenias and Jasmine. This is the ultimate feminine, light mixture for a gorgeous romantic scent that is timeless and classic.

Woody

These collection of fragrances are earthy, musky and dominated by woody scents like sandal and cedar. These fragrances will settle on the skin and linger way past last hours, which makes them ideal for evening wear.

Oriental

Oriental fragrances are quite often bold, intense and punchy. Warm, spicy notes like nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon and clove leave a beautiful richness on the skin and are great for evening wear.

The new Ted Baker Sweet Treats fragrances, 100ml, £30; 30ml, £18, are available from Ted Baker and Boots stores and online at tedbaker.com and Boots.com from September.

What are your favourite fragrances?
