A couple months ago I went to the UK launch party for Tarte Cosmetics. I was so excited because I’ve heard so much about the products but never actually tried them out myself. What I didn’t know is that Tarte are actually a cruelty free cosmetics brand who use natural ingredients like vitamins, minerals and essential oils. Pretty good!
They very kindly gave me a goody bag filled with lip paints and lip glosses to try so I thought I would test them out and do a quick review on my blog. I was actually really impressed with the colour selection they gave me; beautiful nudes, reds and dark plums. I have to say I’m not a big lip gloss wearer but these Glossy Lip Paints give a beautiful non sticky high shine. They are also surprisingly pigmented, for a lip gloss, and go on quite opaque to give a beautiful colour. I also found them to be quite nourishing and soft on the lips.
The normal Tarte Lip Paints are lightweight liquid lipsticks. The have a very creamy moussey like texture with a velvety matte finish. Like the Glossy Lip Paints, these are highly pigmented, and feel very nourishing on the lips. These lip paints are completely non-drying so they don’t really give the same stain like finish as a normal liquid lipstick would. I find them quite long wearing but you do have to be careful of transfer throughout the day. I have to say I prefer the gold packaging used on the Glossy Lip Paints but at least you can tell them apart when they’re in your make up bag!
